Fast Bread Recipe — no planning required

Making bread usually entails advance planning, but not this soda bread recipe.  It requires no kneading and no planning.  What I love most about it is its nice hard crust.  I always have buttermilk or Kefir in my fridge as it is a healthy probiotic that I consume almost every day.  However, you can even make your own and it lasts in fridge for a while.  Check out the recipe here.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g Flour
  • 400 mL Buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda

Directions

  • Pre-heat oven to 392 F.
  • Mix well all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Add buttermilk in the middle of the bowl and incorporate it into the mixture above using a fork. Do not overwork the dough as it prevents it from rising.
  • Shape the dough into a round 6-inch in diameter.
  • Place the dough on a pan covered with parchment paper.
  • Bake it at 392 F for 40 min.
  • Turn the oven off and leave it there for 5 more minutes.
