How to make baked cabbage at home fast:
- Shred a fresh cabbage head (2-3 lbs) or mix half of it with Sauerkraut depending on your preference
- Put it in an oven-resistant pot or glass container
- Add a little water, Sauerkraut juice (optional), oil, salt, and mix all well
- Add 2-3 bay leaves and black pepper
- Cover the tray to prevent it from drying
- Put it in the oven at 375F for 35 min
- Add ~20-25 oz of tomato sauce and mix well. On top, add your protein such as sausage, pork ribs, pork chops, smoked bacon, or even chicken. If you are vegan/vegetarian, skip the protein part.
- Put it back in the oven for ~35min (still covered) while checking it regularly to ensure that it does not get burned.
- Remove the lid, and add fresh dill (optional).
- Put it back in the oven for 10 more min with the lid off.
- Turn off the oven, and enjoy the delicious dish!
